"Flower Basket"

I made this cake for a friend of mine to cheer her up on her birthday.  I started out making a heart shaped cake because her birthday is next to Valentine's Day but then changed my mind and made a flower basket instead that was heart shaped.  I am so disappointed you cannot see the detail in this picture -~ the cake is beautiful.  I made light green basket weave all around the sides and I made a variety of flowers out of stiff icing sugar.  Some of the flowers I made I do not remember the names of but there were carnations, pansies, orchids, peonies, roses and a couple of others.  My friend was so impressed she did not want to eat it ~ the common story with many of my cakes.  I often find I have to make two cakes for people ~ one for them to look at and one for them to eat because they often do not want to 'damage' the cake.
