Some people find decorating cakes to be stressful or boring but for me it is a great stress release and I have fun being creative.
I let my imagination run wild and create art out of icing sugar. :) Only problem I have had is that no one actually takes a decent picture of what I have created. Many have tried to capture the cakes on film for me but so far the only decent one I really have is the one of my son's wedding cake that was taken by a professional [and expensive] photographer. I have only a few pictures available but at least in these pictures you can see the cakes although they are by no means 'good photos' of them and do not do them any real justice.
I have not taken any courses in cake designs, etc ~ this is just a talent I have had since I was a teenager and iced my first cake. With the exception of my son's wedding cake I have not taken any pictures of designs I have created for several years because I cannot get a decent picture. Believe me when I say I have become better with practice and my cakes are very professional looking now as you can see by looking at my son's cake. [I have even received money for them.] Now if only one of us was good at photography. ;)
